OBSESSED INCEST (Part 12)

OBSESSED INCEST (Part 12)
PERFECT STRANGER

She saw the face of a handsome dark skinned man, her eyes went down to his hand on her shoulder, he quickly took it off and apologized. She ignored him and turned to the grave of her husband with tears still streaming down her eyes. The stranger left her back and stood beside her, staring at the grave too.
“your husband?”, she nodded, “I’m sorry to hear that, God will comfort you and may his soul rest in peace” he said but still stood beside her.
In a way having somebody standing beside her was comforting, for once she didn’t feel alone in the world. She took her bag up and turned away.
“going home?”
“yes” she said without turning back to look at him. He hurried to her side, “let me walk you to your car”
“don’t bother”
“I insist”
“okay” she didn’t feel like arguing,
“I missed my friend’s funeral, so I came to pay my respects and apologize to him for missing it”. They walked in silence until they got to her car.
“thanks for your company” she said
“thanks for yours too” he replied. She got into her car and zoomed off. He shoved his hand into his pocket and watched her go until she was out of sight.
Tina got home with a hurting head; she ached for a cold shower. As she got into her now lonely room, she took off her clothes, headed straight to the bathroom, turned on the shower and stood under it. She stood there as images of Mathew clouded her mind; fresh tears mixed with the water from the shower flowed down to her body. She got out of the bathroom and toweled her body slowly and meticulously. Her standing mirror seemed to be calling her, she walked to it and removed the towel from her body and stood in her feminine glory as she looked at her self. She had lost so much weight; she wondered what would be left of her if she continued like this. Her left hand went to a little scar by the side of her neck. Memories flashed, she shut her eyes and saw how Mathew dragged her across the floor, kicked and slapped her as she begged for mercy. She opened her eyes and looked at her face once more in the mirror. She was no doubt a beautiful woman, she knew she was. Even as a married woman, men chased after her, even far younger men, but she never mentioned it to Mathew, she feared he might use it as an opportunity to accuse her of unfaithfulness and beat her up, worse of all divorce. Mathew never gave her a chance to be herself completely through out their married life except the period when they were courting. Her eyes were sunk in, her full cheeks had gone down, her bright eyes were now dull, her skin cracked yet she was beautiful. She sighed and tied the towel round her body and laid on the bed.
She remembered that she left her children for a long time. She hurriedly got up and wore a short and a shirt and walked towards Mia’s room. She opened the door and saw her children sleeping. She walked in and stared at them lovingly
“now, its just me and my babies against the world”, she whispered to herself. She left and shut the door gently.
She laid on her bed and suddenly her mind went to the stranger she met at the cemetery, she remembered his face, his soothing voice and the calmness that surrounded him. She didn’t feel alone when he stood beside her. His face kept appearing until she slept off.
A tap on her lap, made her jolt out of sleep, she opened her eyes to see Mathew grinning, her heart slammed against her chest, she didn’t understand what was happening, she quickly got to a sitting position, rubbing her eyes with her right hand.
“Mathew you are dead”
“no, I am not dead, I have been here all along, you were just to blind to see”
“no, you are dead, I saw your body in the coffin, there was a funeral and your body was in the coffin”
“I am not dead”
“you are Mathew”
“no I am not. Okay to prove you wrong stand up and touch and see for yourself”. She got up trembling and walked towards him. He stretched his hands towards her. As she touched his hand, he fell down and laid still. Then suddenly a coffin appeared and his body was lifted up by some invisible hands and placed in the coffin. Her clothes turned to black. She was confused and scared to say anything.
“Goodbye Tina” she turned round to see another Mathew at her back, she turned to look at the coffin, he was there. She couldn’t take it anymore she screamed.
Her eyes flicked open, she was sweating, and her heart was still racing fast and still visibly shaking. It was all a dream; she looked round the room, everywhere seemed normal. She slowed her breathing and got up. The dream frightened her.
Later in the day, she decided to go to the supermarket to get few things for the house. For weeks she never had time, the house was running out of essentials. She got into a black pair of jeans and a blue shirt, slipped her feet into a flat shoe. Checked her children one more time, this time they were in William’s room.
“I will be out for sometime, take care of yourself”, she waited for no response and left.
She drove slowly all the way thinking of the dream she had, the thoughts of Mathew consumed her. She got to the super market and saw several parking spaces, she hesitated for a while then decided to drive to the parking space close to the entrance and got out of the car sluggishly, she looked really unkempt. She pushed the door open and got into what used to be her favourite super market. Since the death of her husband, everything lost its colour.
She got to the section of beverages, searching for what she and her children were used to. She couldn’t find any of them and became impatient. She picked out whatever her eyes saw. Tina moved to the section of toiletries and glanced quickly at everything she saw. She took down everything she wanted into her shopping basket in twos.
She felt someone was watching her, but ignored the nudge to turn back and look, she kept on shopping with the feeling. She got to the cashier and placed everything she bought in front him, he looked at her face and frowned a little.
“is there a problem ma’am?, you look like you have been crying”
“I am fine, please attend to me quickly I have children at home”
“alright ma’am”. He scanned everything and gave her the total cost. She paid him and took her things away.
Approaching a car she saw a familiar man leaning against the car, he had a welcoming smile on his face.
“is he following me?” she thought. She boldly walked towards her car with her eyes fixed on him.

OBSESSED INCEST (Part 11)

INTERMENT
She knew this day would come right from the first day he told her he had cancer, his days were numbered. She was crumbled and felt bare from within. She cried bitterly, her only companion was dead and never coming back, her world seemed to be over. She loved Mathew dearly. Some of the doctors and the nurses around came to console her. Her cries echoed everywhere. Mia and Williams stood by the body of their father motionless as loads of tears streamed their eyes. He never treated them right but the last months of his life, those were the only days they missed. Mia held the cold fingers of her father,
“daddy please don’t go please, we still need you” she was broken, Williams held her shoulders tenderly,
“daddy is gone Mia” he said, in a shaky voice.
A nurse came with a clean white sheet to cover Mathew’s body. Tina saw this and dragged the sheet away from the nurse.
“how dare you cover my husband like that, he is not dead, let’s give him time, he will return, don’t cover him up, it will suffocate him”. The nurse understood the grief she felt and left her alone. Everyone that came to console her left the room for her and her children to have some time with the body. Tina touched his arm,
“honey, please wake up, don’t leave us like this please, I beg you”. She placed her head on his chest and sobbed so much, “come back to us please”. After an hour the nurse came back with another nurse.
“Ma’am we need to cover the body up”
“don’t refer to him as the body, he has a name and its Mathew” Tina through her tears spoke firmly.
“I’m sorry ma’am, we need to cover Mathew up and take him away from here”
“where are you taking him to?”
“where its appropriate for him”. Tina and her children watched the nurse cover up the body and stood in despair as they wheeled the body away from the room. She collapsed.
It was two weeks since Mathew died. There was gloom everywhere in the home. Something was obviously missing. There was a loud silence all the time. None of them ate properly. Funeral arrangements were made. Extended family members started coming to fix a proper funeral service for Mathew. The date was fixed.
Stood with her black dress in front of the mirror and looked at her face, her eyes were swollen and red due to tears and sleepless nights. She slipped her feet into black shoes that she had not worn in ages. She didn’t want to go anywhere, she didn’t feel like seeing anyone but she had to. “Why did you have to leave Mathew” she thought as a tear escaped her right eye. She wiped the tear off and left the room. She got down to see her living room crowded with Mathew’s colleagues, even Trisha was there wearing a long black gown wiping her teary eyes with a black handkerchief. She could see Mathew’s brothers sitting down with solemn looks, she saw church members, most people were whispering loudly. Her mother was there attending to the needs of anyone. As soon as they saw her, they all went mute; some stood up to greet her. She nodded to anyone that greeted her, she couldn’t utter a word, the truth was that she had no words to say. Her mother made her sit down.
“your children are upstairs, when its time to leave I will call them down”. Tina nodded again. It was time to leave; everyone entered their cars and drove to the cemetery. The procession started. The pastor held the bible in his hands and spoke in a very sonorous voice, reading some verses in the bible. The coffin was laid to rest; she watched it go down and filled with a tremendous shock. She was asked to scoop some sand into the shovel given to her and throw it into the grave. She did as she was told, her children did the same thing then others followed. Williams and Mia were filled with sorrow as they watched the grave being covered up. The funeral was over and they trooped back to her house. As she got home she headed for the room, at this point it really dawned on her that her husband was actually dead and never coming back. Her mother was left to serve the people in the living room with light refreshments in the house, most people rejected but some accepted it and ate. Tina laid on the bed facing the ceiling, she was now a widow.
Weeks after the funeral, a large part of her was still resisting the knowledge that her husband who had died was not going to be around anymore. Sometimes she would find herself calling his name and searching for him in the house until her children would remind her that he was dead. Most times when she went out to get some few things in the house, she would find herself looking for him on the streets hoping to catch a glimpse of him. She started having powerful and desperate yearnings to see him, touch him and talk with him. She was devastated. She was restless and had several sleepless nights and lost appetite. She had dreams about Mathew. She started feeling angry at Mathew for dying and leaving her and the children alone. Life became meaningless to her, she stopped caring about anything, she lost concentration and became a depressed woman.
Everything in the home became disarrayed, everywhere started looking unkempt. Williams and his sister helped to keep the house in order a bit, but they too were going through their own phase, they grieved the loss of their father. No one talked loudly; they all spoke in low tones. Tina tried her best for her emotions not to affect her relationship with her children but the more she tried, the more she became distant from them. She would lock herself up in the room for hours. Williams and Mia had to look after themselves. Even though Mathew was gone, his presence was still felt, his scent was still in the house, his shoes and clothes were still visible. Tina would take his clothes and smell them one by one, pick up his photographs and talk to them. She would walk round the house to remember everywhere he had been in the house and what he was doing. He didn’t treat her well but she still loved him so much. Sometimes the images of him beating will come across her mind but she would shove it aside and say to herself,
“I loved him anyway”. Nothing could take away the hurt, the pain and the loneliness she felt. She would try to forget but it didn’t go away, Mathew died of cancer, that memory will continually be in her head for a long time. Sympathizers would come to console her, and give her words of encouragement and try to motivate her to stand up and face life once more. She would sit down quietly and listen with red eyes that still had tears in them. The death of Mathew drained her so much.
One evening she dressed up and drove down to the cemetery where her husband was buried. She got to the front of his grave and stood there crying.
“Mathew you were being unfair to me and the kids, but I loved you so much, I still love. I wish you were still here, I wish I could see you talk now, I wish I could hold your hands right now. I don’t know what to do Mathew, I am loosing track of life, I feel empty and dried up, I feel choked up”. She stood there crying, her bag fell from her hands as she covered her face. She felt a hand on her shoulder,
“I understand how you feel” the voice said. She turned round with teary eyes to see who spoke.

OBSESSED INCEST (Part 10)

MALADY
Tina got to her room and collapsed on the bed, everything was still like a dream to her. She couldn’t bring herself to the knowledge that her husband had few months to spend with her, “why is life so unfair?” she thought as she stretched. Flashes of how he constantly hit her came to her, she shut her eyes and opened them again,
“God please heal my husband, I can’t loose him now” she prayed silently. A tap on her lap made her conscious of her environment; Tina lifted herself up to see Mia with a long face,
“what is it?”
“will daddy be alright”, Tina got up properly and pulled Mia close to the bed,
“of course he will be fine honey”
“but why is he not home with us”
“he needs to be given proper attention at the hospital, don’t worry, just pray for him”
“can we see him today?”
“yes you will, but in the meantime have you eaten?”
“yes we have, Williams made noodles for us”
“are you satisfied?”, Mia nodded her head
“now go to your room, give mommy some private time okay, we would see daddy soon”
“okay mommy” Mia said and slowly walked out of the room.
A pang of guilt hit Tina as she watched Mia go, “I am lying to my daughter”. She wondered how Mia would feel when she discovered the truth, she wasn’t sure of Williams, she doubted if Williams would feel any form of sympathy for his father. In a way she didn’t blame him. Her love for Mathew was what kept her from behaving like her son. No matter what Mathew did, her love for him never reduced.
Mia got to her room and did exactly what her mother asked her to do. She knelt in front of her bed and clasped her hands together, then shut her eyes,
“Dear God, my daddy is harsh to us, but he is the only dad we have. He is sick and needs your healing. Dear God, heal my daddy and let him come home, and when he comes home make him to be nice to us. In Jesus name. Amen”. She got up feeling a bit relieved. But as she laid down on her bed she wondered if God actually heard her prayer. She got down from her bed again and knelt down with her hands clasped and her eyes shut. This time she made her voice louder
“Dear God, my daddy is in the hospital, he is sick, please heal and let him come back home and be a nice daddy, in Jesus name. Amen”. She got up from and laid down again. Her door opened, Williams came in with a bowl of cornflakes in his hands,
“I heard you praying, since when did you start praying on your own”, there was a smirk on his face,
“I want daddy to be healed”
“why?, do you want him to continue his shouting and beating”
“no I don’t, but I asked God to change him”
“Mia, daddy cannot change”
“he can, if God changes him”
“okay, I have heard you, do you want some of what I am eating” he didn’t want to argue with his sister anymore.
“no, I don’t, I am not hungry”
“okay, suit yourself”, he continued eating and made loud crunchy sound to make her regret for turning down his offer.
Tina got in her bathroom and washed her face, she didn’t want her children to see the tears in her eyes. She rushed down to the kitchen and made food for herself and Mathew. She quickly ate her food, then packaged Mathew’s food neatly, she took a bottle of water along with cutleries, then put everything into a handmade basket. She called out to her children, they came running to her voice.
“get ready, we are all going to see daddy together”. There was glee in Mia eyes but not in Williams, he obviously didn’t see the need to go.
They got the hospital. Mia was anxious to see her father again. They got to the room where Mathew was and found him sleeping. Tina tapped him a little on his arm. He woke up slowly to see his family in the room with him. He smiled a little.
“won’t you greet your daddy?” Tina sounded Stern
“Goodevening daddy” they both said
“evening, how are you?”
“fine” Mia replied. She got closer to her father and sat at the edge of the bed,
“daddy, I prayed to God today”
“really” he sounded amused
“yes”
“so what did you pray for?”
“I prayed to God to heal you”, Mathew smiled, “is that all?”
“no, that’s not all”, Williams chipped in, “she also prayed to God to change you”. Mia suddenly felt guilty in front of her father and mad at her brother for adding that part she tried to hide. There was an awkward silence for a while, Tina felt like smacking Williams for being so insensitive.
“I think God has answered your prayers Mia” Mathew broke the silence,
“really” Mia said with glee
“yes really”. Williams narrowed his eyes and looked at his father, “what is happening, he is supposed to flare up and hit me”, he thought.
Tina brought out Mathew’s food and gave it to him. As they watched him eat they all had different thoughts going through their minds. Tina thought about life without Mathew, she was in pieces but tried to put herself together for the sake of him and her children. Mia was happy because she thought her prayers would be answered and her daddy was finally a changed man. Williams still didn’t believe that his father could ever change; he still believed that he was faking his niceness.
Five months flew, Mathew was still in the hospital, he looked very emaciated, his bones were all shooting out, his handsome looks were now history, his muscles he proudly flexed was now skin and bone. Tina knew his time was rounding up, Mia constantly cried alone in her room, Williams soft towards his father, it dawned on him that he was actually going to loose his father. Tina was in shambles, life was so unfair to her. She was constantly beside him, she didn’t want to miss any moment.
A week into the sixth month, Mathew was very weak and couldn’t talk properly she had to bend so low to his mouth to hear what he was saying to her.
Five months and two weeks Mathew asked Tina to bring his children to the hospital, she obeyed him and brought them. He smiled weakly seeing his whole family in front of him. He spoke but it wasn’t audible enough, so they all came closer to hear him talk.
“I want you guys to stay with me in this room tonight”
“we will” Tina said and gently squeezed the bony hands of her husband. Tears ran freely from her eyes, Mia was crying too, Williams knew life would be different without his father; somehow he already missed his father. He too secretly started praying for his father and was torn apart when he didn’t get well.
“I am sorry for all the wrongs I have caused you Tina” Mathew said
“it doesn’t matter now, what matters is that your family is right here with you” she said between sobs. They did as he asked and slept in the room with him. Mia pulled a chair to his bed, held his hand and placed her head on the bed, then slept off. Mia and Williams brought their sleeping bags and slept in them.
Tina had a dream that Mathew packed his things from the house and left, she pleaded with him to stay back but he refused and drove away. She woke sweating and panting. She quickly checked Mathew, he looked still and lifeless, she shook him severally, calling out his name but there was no response, she screamed in terror, Mia and Williams woke up and saw what had happened. Williams flew up and ran out of the room to call a doctor. When the doctor came, he examined Mathew and inhaled and exhaled slowly. It seemed heavy for him say, seeing the grief Tina and her children were going through. He summoned courage and turned to them.
“I am sorry, but he is gone”

OBSESSED INCEST (Part 9)

MALADY
Mathew was immediately admitted. His pulse was checked and was discovered to be really low; he was given some drugs and was given an IV. She stood by him and watched him; he looked really pale and sad. Her heart was torn to shreds looking at him in his state. She was grateful for the private room, that way she would not have to deal with unwanted peering eyes. Mathew turned to look at the woman he married; he saw her care and love for him. Flashes of him hitting her played in his mind. Tina sat next to him as tears found their way down her neck.
“I will be fine” he spoke and smiled weakly,
“I know you would” she smiled too, “we are in this together”. A knock interrupted them and the door opened the doctor came in. He checked Mathew’s pulse,
“its normal now. Errrrm Mrs. Mathew can I see you for a minute”
“sure” she said as she wiped her eyes. He took her out of the room and folded his hands. Right then she knew there was something heavy he wanted to tell her.
“what is it Doc?”
“your husband has a condition that I am familiar with. I have seen cases like this”
“Is there a chance for him?” her eyes were filled with terror
“Mrs. Mathew, you have to stand strong for him. Patients with this condition live for six months or less, it depends. Chemotherapy would also be done often to keep him alive. I’m sorry ma’am but make every moment count with your husband and please don’t tell him what I have told you, I need him to be stable”. Everywhere seemed to be swirling around her, she couldn’t breathe, her head felt heavy and light at the same time, her legs suddenly became weak. She fell with a heavy thud.
When she opened her eyes slowly and grimaced when the light hit her eyes, she shut them quickly and opened them with more caution. Slowly her eyes got accustomed to her environment. She saw the faces of two nurses and the doctor that broke the terrible news to her. She got up suddenly,
“where is my husband?”. The nurses retrained her, “ma’am you need to rest”,
“how can I rest when my husband is about to die”
“he is not going die” one nurse tried to reassure her,
“no, please take me to him, please”. The doctor took over and held her hands firmly,
“look ma’am, you have to stay calm, if your husband sees you like this, you would kill him faster, stay calm, we would do our best to keep him longer for you, we promise. Please don’t go to him like this. Everything would be fine”
“I don’t want to loose my husband” fresh tears streamed from her eyes. Eventually the doctor was able to calm her nerves. He advised her to behave normally in her husband’s presence and inform his family about his condition. It took an hour for her to regain her composure.
She got back to where her husband was and found him lying down still with a troubled face on.
“where have you been?” he asked
“I went to get some air”
“for over an hour”
“didn’t know the time flew so fast”. He noticed a gloom on her face she was trying to shield away from him,
“Tina what’s the problem”
“nothing”
“I know you Tina, you look troubled”
“I am fine” she tried to smile
“no you are not. You are worried I would soon die”
“shhhhh, don’t say that, its not going to happen to you” she got closer and touched his face. He took her hand off his face and held it tightly,
“Tina, I am not stupid, I know I have a limited time”
“who told you that?”
“ I read about it online. Its hard for me Tina, I am scared” his eyes glowed with tears, “knowing you could die at any time is scary Tina”. She broke again to see Mathew cry. This was the first time she really saw tears in his eyes. She tried to stop the tears from falling down, so they found another route. Tears came down through her nostrils really fast.
“we would fight through this together Mathew”, he laced his fingers through her fingers and squeezed it a little.
“promise me you would stand by me to the end, promise me you would be there until I draw my last breathe”
“don’t talk like that Mathew, we would see many years together”
“don’t make it seem so nice”
“have a positive attitude Mathew”. He sighed and turned his face to the wall.
“I need to be alone”. She understood how he felt and left the room.
Tina decided to go home to her kids; they had been home alone for a long while. Reaching home she saw Mia and Williams watching television in the living room. Immediately they saw her they welcomed her simultaneously.
Mummy, where have you been, Mia asked
“hospital” Williams answered her, Mia ignored him, “mommy where is daddy?”
“he is in the hospital” Tina responded and yawned
“what is wrong?” Mia persisted
“he has been admitted and might not be coming home today”. Sadness played around her face. “is he going to be okay?”. Tina drew Mia to her bosom and ran her fingers through her hair.
“daddy would be just fine”. She looked at Williams who didn’t budge, his eyes were glued to the Television and laughing at the comic characters he was watching.
“Williams aren’t you bothered that your father is in the hospital”, he turned slowly to see the weary face of his mother,
“I am, it’s just that the movie is funny that’s why I am laughing”
“I see. Williams stand up and go to your room this minute”, he reluctantly stood up, he grumbled as he walked towards his room. Tina was disgusted at his attitude and marveled at his lack of sympathy for his father.

OBSESSED INCEST (Part 8)

MALADY

She couldn’t believe what she just heard. Cancer sounded like a fairy tale to her; she never believed it could happen to someone close to her. She watched cases on the television; she read it in the papers and always saw it as a distant disease. She stared at him wide eyed,
“Mathew, I didn’t hear you clearly. What did you say?”. His head dropped, “I have cancer Tina”.
“I don’t understand this. What do you mean? Does this just this happen all of a sudden or it has been there the whole time?”. He kept quiet. For the first time in a long time, he looked really helpless and sad. She was moved with so much emotion for her husband. She touched his face as tears filled her eyes.
“how long have you known this?”
“for a while now”
“and you didn’t see it as a necessary thing to tell your family. Mathew, I am your wife and not just anybody, I am the half of you, I am your blood, why would did you keep this away from me?”
“I thought I could get cured. I didn’t go for any business trip, I went to see my doctor and stay away from the house so I wouldn’t be suspected. The symptoms started all of a sudden, I knew right then that there was something really wrong with me”.
She took his arm and led him back to the sitting room. They sat down and continued their conversation.
“what were the symptoms?”
“I noticed I started getting full after a small meal, weakness, the upper part of my stomach and my shoulder hurts a lot, I knew I needed to see a doctor fast. I got there and was told I have liver cancer”. She looked at him closely
“your eyes are a bit yellowish Mathew”
“I know and I have lost weight a little”. She looked at him again and noticed that what he said was actually true. How could I be so blinded not to see that my husband was suffering” she thought with so much sadness.
“you would have to have an operation for it as soon as possible Mathew”, she said
“its too late for an operation, I have to start chemotherapy”, he responded
“a chemo what?” she was shattered,
“Tina, we would go through this together and we would survive”
“I can’t believe this is happening to me” she sobbed. He drew her closer and cradled her head on his chest. The liquid from her eyes drenched his shirt.
Williams stood at the entrance of the living room unnoticed. He heard everything and wasn’t moved with emotion a bit.
“I hope he dies” he muttered. He left for his little sister’s room.
“daddy is sick” he said as soon as he entered her room,
“okay” she responded without taking her eyes off the comic book she was reading.
“he has cancer”, her eyes speed up to look at him
“cancer?”
“yes”
“oh my God, that’s bad isn’t it?”
“of course it is”
“how bad Williams”
“well according to what I heard, he can’t go through any operation but can only do a chemotherapy”
“and that means what?”
“it means he can die at any time”. Mia gasped; she suddenly became scared of loosing her father. So many times she wished he was dead but this felt different.
“why are you feeling sorry for him?” Williams sounded disgusted
“he’s our father”
“no no no, not our but your father” he said and left her. Mia rushed to the living room to hear for herself. She got there and saw her mom sobbing. She got closer and saw how sad her father was.
“mommy why are you crying?”. The sound of her daughters voice jerked her head from Mathew’s chest
“what are you doing here?” Tina asked and at the same time tried to wipe her eyes with the back of her palm,
“Williams said daddy has cancer”
“who told him that?’
“he over heard it”. Mathew beckoned on Mia to come closer. She was scared of him but walked boldly to his side.
“sit down beside me”, she obeyed. He took both of her hands and squeezed it lightly, “we will all survive this I promise” she nodded her head but couldn’t look at his eyes directly, they always looked stern.
“look at me Mia”, she raised her eyes slowly to meet his eyes. For the first time she saw softness in them. His face was calm and accommodating. “at this stage we all have to stay strong for each other. Now go to your room allow me and your mother to have a private time together”.
As she went to her room she had thoughts swirling round in her head. She couldn’t believe her father could ever be calm like this. “Maybe cancer is good. It has made him more loving” she thought, but then she felt guilty after the thought, cancer was a dangerous disease and can kill as well as. “I hope he gets better” she thought aloud.
A week passed before Tina and Mathew got an appointment with a doctor. They got to the hospital early and waited a while before they were called in. They spoke with the doctor for some minutes telling him about the symptoms Mathew is facing and found out that it was Liver cancer.
“how do you know its Liver cancer” the doctor asked
“he went for a test” Tina quickly responded.
“hmmm, I see. We need to run an X-ray on him ma’am”
“alright” she said with her heart almost jumping from her mouth. Mathew just sat there watching his wife and the doctor decide for him. He was very weak and could barely speak.
The X-ray was done and the result came an hour later.
“he has metastatic liver cancer”
“I don’t understand”
“ma’am it’s a rare condition that occurs when cancer originates in the liver and spreads to other organs in the body”
“what does that mean now” Mathew spoke weakly
“it means you need to be admitted immediately”
“why does he have to be admitted?” Tina asked with so much grieve
“he has to be admitted, this is a critical condition. If you still want to have some time with your husband you he needs to be admitted”.
